continued from home page...Welcome to our new site       Feb. 1, 2007

We have really adjusted our focus towards being a real solutions oriented shop instead of narrow focused direct to garment printing distributor.  We have spent these months asking a lot of questions and doing a lot of listening.  What we have found is that many of you have existing business in the garment decorating industry but are looking to make a positive move towards adding additional revenue streams and strategic offerings to enhance and expand your customer base.

The digital part of this industry is continuing to explode, mixed media decorating is growing by the day & people like you are starting, growing & expanding to meet the needs of their clients.  We must do the same thing and look to the future for the best products to set you apart from others.

Over the past few months we have developed software that includes: MultiRIP, a software program for the dye sub, transfer and screen print industry -   We also have a great photoshop plug-in program called EZSeps, a great low cost solution for screen printers.  We have also become distributors of the Eurodrop doming system and become the exclusive distributor of a low cost manual, cartridge based doming solution called idome.  We feel doming is ready for prime time as a dark shirt solution, mixed media and promotional item products.  Please check out all the possibilities this product can offer and you will see the potential for higher profit offerings for your shop.

We have also become distributors of the Sawgrass Direct Advantage printer.  We are excited about where this company is going with their products in the future.  They are the only ink manufacturer that is also producing equipment.  They have both ends of this segment of the industry ready for prime time and we were so excited to be asked to become distributors.

Be on the look out for our mega-info and demonstration site called JOEDIGITAL coming by summer.  We feel this will be a groundbreaking web based hub for all garment decorators. There will be many, many videos and tutorials for Direct to Garment Printing, Dye Sublimation, Heat Transfering, Doming, Screen Printing, Embroidery & Mixed Media decorating of garments and products for this industry.  There will be many manufacturer and distributor links for where you can purchase the products involved.  This will be a meeting and educating website for everyone in the industry.

Thank you again for visiting and please keep returning as we will be constantly updating our site.

Those who invest the time and effort, however, are reaping the rewards.

"I was extremely happy with light shirts from day one," says Towe. "For darks, the bulk system had to be tweaked, and it probably took an extra five months before I thought, 'Yes, this is what I bought the machine for.'"

"The difference is night and day. I'm glad I stuck with them," says Towe. "Now it's wonderful, I'm very happy with the output." With sales more than $100,000 per year, Towe is seeing DTG contributing to growth in her business, which specializes in school teams, spiritwear and corporate promotional products.

Bowden, spent "many late hours at night trying to figure things out." With annual sales between $200,000 and $300,000 from a customer base of schools, hospitals and church groups, she has seen a 30% increase, especially in walk-in and occasional business.

"With direct-to-garment, I'm getting new people all the time," says Bowden. "I'm really pushing it in the shop, with lots of samples displayed." Bowden, who says she plans to add more accessories, is even considering changing her specialty after 30 years. "I will probably get out of screen printing altogether in a couple of years, and I might strictly do direct-to-garment," she says.

Zechman, whose annual sales are $800,000 in custom orders for schools and local businesses, has tracked the Brother printer's sales directly. "It did $35,000 the first year, and we project $50,000 this year," he says. "Paying for itself has been no problem at all."

As for advising decorators who want to add direct-to-garment printing to their shop, personal results dictate responses.

Butler thinks DTG is good for printing light-colored shirts but his frustration continues with printing on darks.

Butler is nevertheless is optimistic about the future of direct-to-garment printing. "Eventually somebody will figure all this out," he says. "And it will change the industry."

As of 2006 research showed that DTG printing was a
success.  Decorators say their investment goes beyond the
initial purchase price to a major commitment in time,
training and patience. However, in the end,
most are happy with the results.

Becki Bowden, owner of Fit to a Tee, a screen printing
shop in Media, Penn., says it took four months
for her to feel comfortable with the machine she
bought two years ago. "There were lots of quirks, and I had a lot of waste.

As for advising decorators who want to add direct-to-garment printing to their shop, personal results dictate responses.

"Go get one," says Zechman, with caveats. "If you do only embroidery, I say 'maybe.' If only screen printing, 'maybe.' But if you do both, it's a great complement because of the flexibility, and customers are absolutely thrilled with the results."

"Do a lot of research. Some people have  spent between 18 months and two years doing just that. Get samples, talk to more than one company, and if you can afford it, go to the companies and watch machines in progress.

One of the most important parts is who you are getting it from.  Distributors for the most part have become box sellers.  Find someone you can talk to, someone who knows this part of the industry, this is not screen printing or embroidery.  This is a different animal and really needs a whole different skill set for being a real asset to the buyer.        read more in the news...
